nO CONFIDENCE REQUIRED.

Calm, flexible portrait sessions designed to move at your pace.
No pressure to pose, perform, or feel a certain way.

NO POSING.
NO PERFORMANCE.
NO PRESSURE.

As We Are exists outside of traditional portrait expectations.

There is no goal to change how you look or feel. You are not asked to act confident, tell a story, or arrive prepared.

This project is about making space to be seen as you are, without explanation or urgency.

You’re not here to prove anything.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO FEEL READY.

Not everyone feels safe or comfortable in traditional portrait spaces.

This project exists to offer an alternative — one without pressure, posing, or expectations about confidence.

As We Are is not about changing how you look or how you feel. It’s about documenting people where they are, without asking them to be anything else.

WHY THIS PROJECT EXISTS

This project is for people who want a calm, low-pressure photography experience.

It’s for people who feel unsure, in-between, or unfinished — and still want to be photographed.

You don’t need a reason to book. You don’t need a story to share. You don’t need to know how this should look.

WHO THIS IS FOR

This project may not be a good fit if you’re looking for a traditional photoshoot, a makeover, or images designed to impress an audience.

It’s not intended for branding, personal marketing, or confidence coaching.

If you’re looking for strong posing direction or a high-energy experience, this likely isn’t the right space.

WHO THIS ISN'T FOR

Sessions are calm, flexible, and unhurried.

We start with a short conversation and move at your pace. You’re never asked to pose, act, or explain yourself.

Breaks are welcome. Silence is welcome. Adjustments are welcome.

Most people describe the session as quieter than expected and more comfortable than a traditional photoshoot.

WHAT A SESSION
IS LIKE

You’ll receive a gallery of photographs from the session.

The images aren’t meant to define or explain you. They simply document a moment as it was.

There’s no expectation to share them or use them in any particular way.

WHAT you receive

We’re Rylee and Chris, two queer photographers who grew up being told our bodies were wrong.

Rylee was a homeschooled trailer kid battling anorexia and ARFID; Chris a queer ex-Mormon in Utah facing shame, dysmorphia, and addiction.

Photography became where we could finally breathe, be soft, weird, and real, and start healing.

We don’t retouch bodies. We welcome all genders, sizes, ages, and stories—and we’re here to help you feel truly seen and beautiful in the body you have right now.

HOW IT WORKS

HOW IT WORKS:

This project is supported through a mix of grants, donations, and community funding.

Because of this, sessions are offered at a much lower cost than traditional portrait photography.

If you’d like, you can also help fund future sessions or give a session so someone else can participate.

We start with a simple conversation.

You can either book directly through the booking link, or reach out with questions first — whatever feels easier.

If you book directly, you’ll choose an available date and share a bit of information so we understand what you’re looking for and any boundaries you want us to be aware of.

COST & ACCESS

If you’d rather talk first, you can send a message or request a short call. We’re happy to answer questions, walk through what a session looks like, or help you decide if this project feels like the right fit.

The session itself is calm and flexible. It moves at your pace, with breaks whenever needed. You’re never asked to pose, perform, or explain yourself.

After the session, you’ll receive a gallery of photographs that reflect what showed up that day. There’s no pressure to share or use the images in any particular way.

Book directly.
